Pet Theft Awareness Day

On February 14th of every year, LCA educates the public about the dangers of pet theft with the help of individuals and other animal organizations throughout the United States.

LCA observed the 20th annual National Pet Theft Awareness Day “on the go” again this year! Our Animal News Van will make special appearances at local dog parks with the LCA crew. We will be passing out important information on pet theft along with dog treats and toys (thanks to Three Dog Bakery & Centinela Feed for the donated goodies) and a special microchipping offer from Centinela Feed.

Contact our volunteer coordinator to get involved in Pet Theft Awareness Day 2009 in Southern California.

If you are interested in hosting an event in your town check out the campaign materials page and get activity suggestions and supplies for your own Pet Theft Awareness Day.

We created “dog tags” in remembrance of “Rebel,” a dog that died at Martin Creek Kennels during LCA’s investigation of Class “B” dealer C.C. Baird. These tags have been created for supporters to wear on Valentine’s Day, February 14th – Pet Theft Awareness Day (and every day!). These tags both memorialize the stolen pets that lost their lives for medical research and serve as a tool to educate others about pet theft.

Pet Theft Awareness Day 2009 will be on Saturday, February 14! Order your tags online today!
